The gift of a gentle heart

I think the only ones who ever wanted and managed to terribly bastardise Tolkien's work must have been the people who made those awful animated films. I got a copy of the BBC radio plays (with a rather younger Ian Holm as Frodo) in the mail from Patrick today (many many thanks). It's absolutely fabulous, very very very the book. So far, that is; it's a 13 CD set, and I'm still in the first CD. Frodo is about to decide to take the ring to Imladris. They've got Sam's clippers going in the background...

I am so terribly lucky. In spite of all of my whingeing, I've got quite a bit of good.

There was a thunderstorm just a bit ago, and it has turned the clouds into a swirling sea on the horizon. The thunder rolls like the surf and the clouds have flooded the sky.

Tonight I need to read The Trial of Socrates and glance over Julius Caesar to make sure I remember it as well as I think I do. That's about it really.

Fortune cookie of the day: You have a strong awareness of self; others take notice of this.

This is not a fortune, it's a compliment! It's a compliment cookie; what do I want one of those for?
