How many times must the cannonballs fly?

So, I finally did it, I wrote back the letter to Joanna about her getting shipped off in February. That may be the hardest thing I've done for a while. I was not going to write a word to her that I did not firmly believe in, and my not being a fan of what I've referred to many a time as "The Gospel According to Joanna" made this difficult. She's all about the religion. I can't promise to pray for her, I can't tell her that God will watch out for her because I can't believe in that. I don't seriously think that, even if he is there, that he'd condone war anyway. But I can't tell her that.

I told her I hoped she comes back safe, and that I hope she's doing what she believes is right in spite of what she may hear. Then it doesn't matter what I say, or anybody else, because she believes it's right. I hope that's good, not just good enough, but that it works for her, because, you know, maybe she's not going to die, and she probably won't, but, there's always that chance. It's a war, somebody has to die, right? I just want for her to know for herself as much as she can that she believes in what she's doing. Otherwise, there's no point.

In other news, I didn't get into Mockingbird, for which I'm glad. The only part I was likely to get would've been opposite Richard, which I really didn't want to do. At least I got called back. That's good enough for the time being.

Now all I want more out of this week is a letter. I ask nothing more.
